Your hosted workspace

What happens to your work in a hosted workspace, in plain words. How often it is saved, what sleeping means, what happens when you delete it, and what the saved copy holds today.

A hosted workspace is one you created at syncropel.com. It runs for you in the cloud, so there is nothing to install and nothing to keep running. This page explains what happens to your work while you use it, while you are away, and if you ever delete it.

If you have not created one yet, start with Hosted workspace signup.

A saved copy of your workspace

When you create a workspace you can choose to have it keep a saved copy of itself, called its kept repository. This choice is being offered to some accounts first, so you may not see it yet.

When your workspace keeps a copy, you do not have to do anything to keep that copy up to date. There is no key to look after and no button to press. The workspace saves new work to its copy on its own, for as long as it exists.

How often your work is saved

If your workspace keeps a copy, new work is saved to it shortly after it happens:

PlanNew work is saved within about
Free30 seconds
Paid10 seconds

So for a workspace that keeps a copy, if something goes wrong with the machine it runs on, the most you can lose is the work from those last few seconds. Without a kept copy, this limit does not apply.

See Pricing and billing for what each plan includes.

When your workspace sleeps

A hosted workspace goes to sleep when nobody is using it, and wakes up when you open it again. Waking usually takes a couple of seconds.

Nothing is lost while it sleeps. When it wakes, it picks up saving where it left off.

If you use the command line and see a connection error right after a quiet period, wait a moment and try again: the workspace is probably waking up.

Scheduled work

Scheduled work (a daily summary, a weekly check) runs while your workspace is awake. See Scheduled triggers for how schedules are set up.

What the saved copy holds

Today the kept repository holds your workspace's records. That includes:

  • your threads, messages and decisions
  • your assistants, their settings and their schedules
  • your workspace's configuration

Files you store in the workspace are not included yet. If you keep important files in your workspace, keep your own copy of them somewhere else for now.

When you delete a workspace

Deleting a workspace that kept a copy does not delete the copy straight away. The copy is kept for 30 days after you delete the workspace.

During that time you can see it in your account console at services.syncropic.com, under Repositories, with the date it was saved and its size.

Taking your work with you

Your workspace is never locked in. You can export everything at any time and run it on your own machine, or move work from your own machine into a hosted workspace. See Portability and the moving between local and hosted section of the pricing page.
